| March 14th, 2011 Happy March break everyone, hope you're all well, and having a nice time. Now hopefully by now most of you know about the Japan Earthquake/Tsunami/Nuclear Meltdown issue. And as an anime club, and our obvious connection to Japan (although i know we are currently already doing a lot of fund-raising for AN) i was thinking/hoping we could do a fundraiser to help support Japan. My idea: We give away bookmarks for free in the main foyer with a donation bin next to us for donations from students/teachers. The bookmarks: i so far only have two design ideas, but any other ideas are welcome. The first idea is of a white bookmark with a red heart in the center (sideways) and in red somewhere (on the bottom/side, or maybe back) the words "We Care". The second was another white bookmark with the words "There is always" in red above the kanji for hope, also in red. Other ideas/design are welcome, i have all the materials needed to make good quality bookmarks. The donation: What i really need your help with is where we would lie these donations to go (also if you think this is a good idea) The current big donation pools for Japan that i can find are: The Red Cross (http://www.redcross.ca/article.asp?id=38380&tid=001 ), The Humanitarian Coalition (http://humanitariancoalition.ca/), CARE Canada (http://www.care.ca/main/index.php?en&_home) Which would people like to donate to?? Other:Sabrina/Beth how would i get this approved by the office? does anyone know if the office is open this week? (i'd like to get this started as soon as possible) Hoping everyone likes this idea and is supportive, please help by giving feedback!! I'm making a discussion page to talk about this idea: http://bellsanimeclub.wetpaint.com/thread/4513481/Japan+Fundraiser --------------------------------------------------------------------- January 2nd, 2011 Happy new Years everybody~!! and a Merry Christmas! In other news for anime club, the current numbers for people who want to go to Anime North is standing at 25 (30 including grade 9s) With that i invite people to suggest animes they'd like to see on the suggestion page, and to continue having a fun time in anime club this year as well! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- December 9th, 2010 Okay some news~! Some of you may have noticed that Laura made some updates for the Official Cast for Anime North page, basically she put up everyone's names she knew wanted to go(/took down all the names she wasn't sure about) obviously this isn't the full list we got at the beginning of the year, we are sorry but unfortunately that list was lost. Everyone who wants to go to Anime North this year must send Sabrina an email saying who you are and that you would like to go. Even if you're already on the list posted on this website, we will try and keep the list up to date, as well when it comes time to be paying, another column will be added to the chart saying if you've paid or not. (we will try and keep this up-to-date at least weekly) please title your email: Anime North List Sabrina's email: sd_madore@hotmail.com Thank you for checking the website, and hope everyone continues to have a fun year with Anime Club!~! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- November 30th, 2010 Sorry, nothing big again, just wanted to remind everyone to request animes they would like to watch in anime club through the requests page! You can get to this page either by looking to the left of this page, to where a scroll of all our different pages are (it will be near the bottom) or you can go into discussions and just find the direct link to the forum there. or you can follow this link: http://bellsanimeclub.wetpaint.com/page/Anime+Requests Make sure to check out our current anime order while you're there, but also remember that list is not final and is subject to change when we either get more requests for one specific anime or just a lot of requests from different people. Hope this helps and lets everyone enjoy their time even more in this years Anime Club~! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- October 25th, 2010 Hello, just a quick reminder before this weeks meeting! This week, (oct 28th) will be the club photo day! So remember to wear your ~school uniforms~ we want the club to be filled with school girls and guys this year too~! can't wait to see everyone there, hope this reminder helps! ------------------------------------------------------------------ October 21st, 2010 Hello everyone, this is our first update of this year! Here on this site we'll be posting updates for everyone to know how things are going, so bookmark it already and check it regularly! Remember everyone we are fighting for Anime North! The ultimate dream vacation for us otakus!!! Check out the events to see what we have planned this year! And now a reminder from Sabrina, in case you lost or never got her email: So, first order of business: ANIME NORTH! Last year's trip of a little less than 30 kids whisked away from school to a weekend in Toronto for Canada's Biggest Anime Convention was a HUGE success! We're bringing it back this year for a second go! We will not be taking Grade 9s on this trip, and we have a limited number of slots available as we have already reserved our hotel rooms. In the coming weeks, I will be communicating with the school administration to work out making Anime North '11 a school (sanctioned) event. Last year we were denied sanction-ing-ship... so we all kind of skipped the friday of the Con... BUT we hope to get the school on our side this year. This will help us on the planning side with insurance and transportation and it will also help us get YOUR parents on OUR side. SO! If you are interested (and not a grade 9) in going on Anime North Trip '11 reply to this email giving your full name and grade. The price is TBD, all that I've decided is that we're ditching the deposit process, you pay us full and we register you and slap you on the list for a hotel room. We wont have people running away with our money this year. I APOLOGIZE BUT IF YOU ARE HAVING FINANCIAL DIFFICULTIES THEN TOUGH. WE CANT SUPPORT YOU. NO EXCEPTIONS Second order of business: As I've stated twice now at our meetings, I'm graduating this year and am looking for a small group of successors. This is a little complicated now as being president of Anime Club is now comprised of a lot more than filling out announcements and getting us a room and a tv. The people I want for successors MUST be organized and WELL ROUNDED in interests and activities, and they must be friendly and personable to ALL groups of the school. A Club is a service to the whole school, we should open up our activities to all demographics of the population, not be hostile and exclusive if we don't particularly want a certain group. If you're interested in (Vice-) Presidency next year, send me an email with your name, grade and a small head shot of you so I can identify you in a crowd, I'm not so great with names early on. -- - | |

Hello everyone, thank you for looking at this even though it's march break this is the discussion page for which donation pool we'd like to contribute to, if other people have ideas for the fundraiser its self/have anything else to contribute to it, and if people even like the idea to begin with.
Thank you for all your feedback, hopefully we can raise a lot of money for one of our favorite countries.
Do you find this valuable?

Hey guys, just checking up on how things are going. I was looking at the pages and I realised we don't have an "about AN" page. It would be smart to just add information on the convention itself. Let all the newbs know what they're getting into. If words are too much trouble a random video from Youtube could be great! :D
Happy to see you guys are doing so well! What are all of you excited for the most this AN? 8D |

I really like Sabrina's idea of getting anime club t-shirts at the end of the year... For where we'd order them, Zazzle is a canadian t-shirt company, which offers group deals. So maybe there? Any ther suggestions?
